Excerpt from the CSET Study Guide
Let’s continue our review of fractions for subtest 2 of the CSET Multiple Subjects exam.
To divide one fraction by another, multiply by the reciprocal of the divisor.

To add or subtract fractions, change each fraction (if necessary) to an equivalent fraction so all have the same denominator. Place the sum (or difference) of these new numerators over the common denominator. Reduce the resulting fraction to its lowest terms.

Here’s another one.

To divide by a number or a fraction, multiply by its reciprocal.

When adding mixed numbers, add the whole numbers and add the fractions.

To multiply mixed numbers, write them as improper fractions, then multiply.

In a recent exam, one tenth of the students got an A, two sevenths got a B, and the rest got a C. What fraction got a C?
This is simply an addition of fractions problem minus the whole which is represented by 1 or (70/70).
