You probably don’t have time to read a thousand word essay about how to create a teachers resume so I’m going to just jump right into an example resume for you to download and then talk about it later.

Teachers Resume Layout

Teachers resumes should be brief and not be more than one page in length. Your teacher resume should be divided into 4 sections: “Major Achievements”, “Professional Background”, “Training”, and “Education”.

Teachers Resume Major Achievements

This is where you put statements like, “Helped under-performing students achieve their full potential”, “Helped improve student performance by introducing computer technology in the classroom”, “Helped improve student performance by creating audio lessons that could be loaded onto a students iPod or burned to CD”, “Responded effectively to the demands of a culturally diverse student population”.

Teachers Resume Professional Background

This is where you put your career history. School name and job title are self explanatory. If you are a new teacher then you should provide details of any pre-teaching experience you had working with children. Such things include your 80 hours of classroom time required by your state education department, any student teaching you did in college, volunteer work at a church, or any private tutoring work.

In the responsibilities and achievements bulleted list you should include statements like: “Worked with students with special educational needs”, “Planned and took part in school-wide projects”, “Planned and prepared lessons, graded papers and prepared report
