Teach In Texas
Filed Under California Job Teacher | 1 Comment
California and Texas have a reciprocity agreement in place which means you can teach in Texas with your California teaching credential or you can teach in California with your Texas teaching credential.
Teach For Texas
The State of Texas is facing a growing shortage of qualified teachers. Texas needs teachers so bad they have a rather cheezy sounding program called Texas Troops to Teachers (TTT). There has also been a PR campaigned launched called teach for Texas.
Teach In Texas Pay
The average pay for someone teaching in Texas is $41,009 or about $15,000 per year less than California; however, the cost of living is lower in Texas. For example, you can buy a home in Dallas Texas for $65,000. That same home in California would cost you $200,000.

When I called Texas about the reciprocity agreement, I was told that California DOES NOT have reciprocity with Texas and that California teachers would first be required to pass Texas testing before being given a Texas credential.
