Another type of word problem that teacher candidates studying for the CSET should be able to solve is the tax problem.
Word problems involving tax are very common so this type of problem has a high probability of being on your CSET exam.
Example:
You bought lunch in New York that was priced at $6.72, and the total bill was $7.37. What is the sales tax rate in this city? (Round answer to two decimal places).

If a lawyer and an IRS agent were both drowning, and you could only save one of them, would you go to lunch or read the paper?
