Tip #7. Most doctors say that we eat too much meat every week so cut back on meat. You don’t need to eat either ground beef, steak, or chicken for dinner EVERY night of the week. Not only is that unhealthy according to most doctors, but it also will add a huge expense to your weekly grocery store bill. Meat is a good source of protein but it’s expensive. Cheese, poultry, eggs, peanut butter, dried peas, beans, lentils, and some fish are less expensive and excellent sources of protein.
Tip #8. Only buy whole chickens from the grocery store. If you want only breasts, or legs, cut the whole chicken up and freeze for later use. Buying breasts or legs alone is very expensive.
Tip #9. Most bargains are found on the higher and lower shelves of your grocery store. Most expensive brands are at eye level because these are the items people tend to look at first and so the store marks them up.
Tip #10. Watch for unadvertised specials. A grocery store will always have specials on items that are going to perish soon if they don’t find a buyer. Go grocery shopping early in the morning and grab these specials before anyone else.
Tip #11. If a product you use is on sale, buy as much as you can afford and store it to last until the next sale. This is a HUGE money saver!
