How To Make Enemies And Be A California Teacher Fired
Filed Under California Teacher Fired |
There are many ways a California teacher can be fired. Some of the reasons for firing a teacher may seem harsh but I think many people forget the fact that a great honor is bestowed upon teachers who are trusted with a parents most valuable and cherished asset, their child.
Not only are children the most valuable possession of an adult, society also puts an extreme value on children as they represent the future of this great nation. People going into teaching must always remember the great and terrible responsibility that is placed on their shoulders and they must avoid showing up on the California teacher fired radar.
You Can Learn a Lot From a Dummy
Here are some high profile examples of California teachers being fired. Make sure you stay away from these volatile issues as a new teacher.
Wendy Gonaver was fired from Cal State Fullerton for not signing a loyalty oath swearing to “defend” the U.S. and California constitutions “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” Can someone say stupid? Just sign the oath and do not try and refuse on the grounds of religious reasons. Either you want to teach or you want to be a high up member in your church. If you are going to make such a big deal out of having to sign such a no brainer document, then you probably should seek a career in the church, not a school district. Personally, I wouldn’t trust any adult with my child who refused to sign a document that says they will defend the constitution against all enemies.
Danielle Bruns, a first-year teacher, was fired after telling parents that she didn’t have enough supplies to do her job. Can someone say moron? Do not try and get parents involved if you want to make a statement to your bosses that you need more supplies. Your job is to do the best you can with the supplies you have. If you are so concerned about teachers having more supplies, then you should probably not be teaching and you should instead go and run for a political office so you can do something about it. Doing a run around on your employer by going directly to parents with your grievances is dumb with a capital D.
Deborah Mayer was asked by one of her elementary students whether she would take part in a peace march, she answered, “I honk for peace.” Soon afterward, Mayer lost her job. She complained to federal courts that her free-speech rights had been violated.
A federal appeals court said a teacher’s speech is “the commodity she sells to an employer in exchange for her salary.” The Bloomington, Ind., school district had just as much right to fire
