California and Georgia have teacher reciprocity agreements in place which means you can use your California teaching credential to get a teaching job in Georgia.
Georgia was one of the original Thirteen Colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution. Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the United States Constitution, on January 2, 1788. Georgia seceded from the Union on January 21, 1861 and was one of the original seven Confederate states. Georgia is the ninth-largest state in the nation by population, with an estimated 9,544,750 residents as of 2007. From 2006 to 2007, Georgia had 18 counties among the nation’s 100 fastest-growing counties, the most of any state. Georgia is also known as the Peach State and the Empire State of the South. Atlanta is the most populous city, and the capital.
The State Superintendent of Schools, in Georgia, is Kathy Cox. Kathy Cox was elected as Georgia’s State Superintendent of Schools in November 2002 and was overwhelmingly re-elected in November 2006. Since taking office, Superintendent Cox has overseen sweeping reforms in Georgia’s public education system with a singular mission: “We will lead the nation in improving student achievement.” Superintendent Cox was a public school teacher for 15 years and believes in the power of great educators, engaged students, high expectations and strong parental involvement.”
