ESL Teach
Nearly everyone in the world wants to acquire English, the language of International commerce and higher education. Most of the teaching jobs abroad are for English teachers. But you do not really need a credential at all. Your credential is simply your ability to speak English. However, you should, at the very least, get some formal training in TEFL or TESOL. You can find TEFL or TESOL classes online for as little as $200 and some are as short as a couple of weeks. Also, some foreign employers will pay you a little more if you have a TEFL or TESOL certificate. I think it looks even better if you have your California teaching credential and have at least a little bit of experience in teaching in the classroom. I have come across job postings, especially in Brazil, where you will receive a letter of denial due to “lack of experience” even though the job posting never specifically said what the experience is that they are looking for. I have also heard about California teachers applying for jobs overseas and being hired based on their resume and experience without ever leaving California and having to physically visit the school (job site) first.
